Re: Great News
I've just been being lazy lately though. I think there's a difference between writer's block or burnout or whatever and being in a lazy mood and it's helpful to learn the difference so you know how to respond to each however works best for you.
But now I do feel kind of motivated at the moment. Maybe I'll go work on the scene I'm in the middle of.
Re: Great News
I think the best part of the scene sheet is being able to find a scene I feel the mood for and write it.
Re: Great News
There's a thing in knitting where some people will say they're a process knitter or a product knitter. I think I'm very much a process writer. I write for the feeling of experiencing the story more than for the final product, and I prefer to experience my stories from beginning to end.
Although now I'm wondering if this attitude is contributing to how difficult it's been for me to try to make the switch to writing for an audience over the past few months (as opposed for writing stories purely for fun that no one would ever see). My way of writing feels very personal. Maybe if I try out a different method it will help me step back a bit and feel less exposed by the idea of showing the work to other people.
Now I'm just rambling.
Re: Great News
Interesting to me though, how you mentioned experiencing the story from beginning to end. I feel like I experience my story all at the same time, or at least all over the place, because I have pieces of scenes from every point in the story going in my head. True, that's different from the experience of actually sitting down and writing the scene out, but I think that sense of ongoing interconnected story was part of what let me try writing this last one out of order. (That and having Scrivener)
Re: Great News
I love thinking about stuff like this though. I find it interesting that I'm such a process writer when I seem to be the complete opposite with the knitting I just mentioned. I'm all about the end product there.

Re: Great News
I getcha.
I see, maybe, I mean.. I don't know what to tell you , I can't tell you the "right way to write" because their is none.
I do that all the time.
Re: Great News
Thanks for starting this thread. I actually got some work done tonight.
