spoilers for Thor: TDW

[personal profile] elaminator 2014-04-05 12:44 am (UTC)(link)
I don't like Floki. (Vikings.) His voice/mannerisms/everything irritates me.

I like the idea of Ragnar/Athelstan (and Lagertha/Athelstan/Ragnar), but think Athelstan deserves better (as does Lagartha). (At least I think this is an unpopular opinion because I see SO much Ragnar/Athelstan praise on tumblr.)

I find Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to be genuinely entertaining and think it could be much worse.

I probably would've liked Thor: The Dark World more if Loki had in fact stayed dead. Bringing him back and having him keep on fooling everyone indefinitely is not something I'm interested in. It would have been a nice moment of (semi)redemption had he actually died selflessly, but now he gets to live and keep fucking up everything for everyone.

Peter Hale needs to die and stay dead. He's had some good moments, I won't deny that, but he's outlived his welcome imo and now his continued existence just makes me rage.

I like the new Star Trek movies. They're fun, pretty action flicks even if they don't live up to people's expectations. They don't need to be amazing and flawless re-imaginings of the original Trek for me to enjoy them.

Snow/Charming (ONCE) are adorable together and extremely lovable characters.

I'm kind of glad Firefly ended when it did.

He doesn't really make me rage necessarily but I was glad that 3B used him somewhat sparingly and I have to admit that I let out a big groan when the whole "malia is his daughter" thing was revealed (they kind of let it go once it was revealed but I'm assuming they'll pick it up in season 4. uggggh). He's just such an unnecessary character

It sounds like the show is going to explore the Peter & Malia thing next season, so at least they have a reason to keep him around? It isn't a very good reason (to me, at least), but then again I'm with you and think that whole plot point is unnecessary and stupid.

I enjoy Agents of SHIELD too, it started pretty meh, but it grew on me...

I'm always glad to not be the only person in f!s who actually enjoys SHIELD. I haven't heard anything about a second season and it's worrisome.

It's getting good ratings and critical praise from mainstream media, so it's likely to continue.

It's one of only two shows I make a point of watching as they air instead of time-shifted. The other is Grimm.

Ooo, is it? Haven't the ratings dropped a good deal? Though they may still be good enough to warrant a renewal. I know the reviews for the premiere were good, but I thought they had been rough since then. I have heard more people talking about the show getting better though, so maybe the media is liking it more now too.

Awww, yay SHIELD! I think I'd like Grimm but I've been too lazy to watch it.

Snow/Charming (ONCE) are adorable together and extremely lovable characters.

Isn't that how most fans feel? I thought "Snowing" was the most popular het ship in OUAT.

I don't doubt that they're in a lot of fic as a background pairing, but trying to find fic that's centered around them is difficult. (Or at least was last time I tried.) In the past I've seen a lot of hate for them as individuals and as a couple; I haven't been keeping up with the fandom this season.

Definitely agreed on Peter Hale, the dude does have some good lines and moments but he's kept around when it makes no sense(same with the twins as well but hey at least they're gone now).

I'm glad the show doesn't have to spend time on the twins anymore. ... But at the same time now we're getting like eight new characters, so...we'll have to see if those are an improvement.

Uh, if I remember correctly (and I might not be) one will be working with Sheriff Stilinski, we're getting a new teacher at Beacon Hills High, at least three new teenagers, and I think Melissa is getting a new boss? That and, well, Braeden and Malia are supposedly getting more screen-time, and those two have had so little screen-time they almost feel like new characters...

There might even be more, I haven't had time to keep up with TW news in the past week or two.

Why do we need so many new people? I don't understand. We have plenty of characters who can still be explored and every season, we have to get new people :/

Re: spoilers for Thor: TDW

[personal profile] elaminator 2014-04-05 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
I almost feel like the show is going to start killing off the main cast and bring in new characters, but maybe I'm just being paranoid and Davis isn't truly brave enough to try it. And I don't even mean next season, but maybe he has plans to introduce characters now and have them star a few seasons down the road? TBH I hope TW ends before that happens, but we'll have to see.

All the characters being introduced might go the way of Parrish and the twins and have scenes here and there but ultimately be unimportant. (Unless Parrish was secretly important? He was to me anyway, but I still don't know if he's coming back next season.)

Snow/Charming (ONCE) are adorable together and extremely lovable characters.

Huh? How is this an unpopular opinion. They're the most adorable True Love romance on the show, and the only one that so far hasn't been an angst-fest from start to (usually heartbreaking) finish. I mean, they have their moments, but generally they are reliably honest, funny, true and supportive of each other.

Okay, Charming has had problems about lying since his time as David. He should stop that. And their universe really, really likes to drop bombshells on them. But at least they're not perpetually alive-dead-alive like Rumbelle, and Emma genuinely needs to not have a romance for a while, they're mostly only breaking her apart.

Also, they have some of the most hilarious moments on the show. Snow attempting to explain Rumple's relationship with Henry to Charming will never not be hilarious to me. Not to mention Regina and Emma's reactions to their more intimate/sappy moments.

Re: spoilers for Thor: TDW

[personal profile] elaminator 2014-04-05 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
I did feel a bit silly including them since they're canon and get tons of screentime, but I've had bad experiences with ONCE fandom and in the past I've mostly seen hate for them. (Both individually and as a pairing. Or, well, not even all hate, but a lot of indifference as well.) Maybe that's changed more recently but I've decided I'm not going near the fandom again unless I want gifs.

I do like how much of a team they are though. And how they're very much equals, and when the show isn't giving them (often) contrived angst they're extremely loving and honest and good together. They have a near perfect relationship and one of the better on-screen marriages I've seen in some time. If one of them ever dies I'm out.

So agreed! They need more light moments together too. (Emma walking in on them that one time was gold.)

I agree about TDW, I liked Loki's death scene. I had the feeling they'd reverse it in the end though, Loki is too beloved by the fandom for the writers to let him stay dead, I suppose. I am intrigued by what they intend to do with Loki in the future, but after watching TDW I have doubts about how good it's going to be. I did not think that movie was half as good as the first.

I liked Loki's death scene

That's another reason it didn't sit right with me that Marvel almost immediately undid it; it was a damn good death scene! LOKI DESERVED THAT DEATH SCENE. It doesn't hold the same meaning for me now then when I wasn't certain he was coming back. (Granted, I DID think he would, but...I had hope they wouldn't be predictable and do it by the end of the same film.) I'm still angry that they didn't even keep him dead for a couple films. I feel like they could've had a much more interesting storyline had they killed him off and possibly brought him back later, outside his own volition. He could've teamed back up with Thor, maybe fought his trickster nature (badly), it would've been fun. Now we're going to get a whole 'nother buttload of angst and I don't even want to forgive Loki; he's a dick.

+1 That last one. As it was, it was already starting to be ruined. Joss Whedon really seems to work best doing things that only need 1-2 hours of screen time.

lol, I've enjoyed a lot of Whedon's work but I won't necessarily argue with that. I can't help thinking that Firefly is best left alone. (Especially after hearing what he had planned for it.)

YES to Firefly. As sad as I am that there aren't more episodes, I have no faith that it wouldn't have ruined everything I hold dear

/slight hyperbole

I like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., too.

I feel weird mentioning not wanting more Firefly because so much of the fanbase still wants a reunion, I'm just not sure it's a good idea. Everything that's been said about 'what was meant to be' for Firefly is shit I do not want.

Yes! I'd like for more cameos on SHIELD (maybe for Sif to return because she was flawless), but even without tons of cameos I've enjoyed it.
