I'm impressed with your region. Most places I know which flood regularly just keep building levees, so they just have even more drastic floods when the floods inevitably get bad enough to overcome them.

Here the situation gets ignored until the rich fucks on the edge of London get a half inch of water in their oversized back gardens, then it's all hands on deck, call in the Army... oh, we may as well help those poor people in Somerset too.

At least, that's how it appeared from the outside during the flooding in the UK at the start of the year, that not much got done until the Thames started to get a bit high.

Around here, it's quite common for one of the rivers to get a bit swollen after the rains. The villages along the flood-prone portions haven't got any houses too close to the river, and the farmers have alternate fields to put their livestock in.

That is a shame. As a Dutch person where dykes are everywhere and always maintained I always wondered why England seemed to flood so much.
