I don't know, I feel that this is true of the Silmarillion Tumblr tag, but not so much for the wider fandom / fics and so on.

I've seen it on AO3 and ff.net too, though not as much.

Well, there are some stories on AO3 and FFN... but Tumblr is basically half the Silmarillion fandom these days (and the bigger half, I imagine, the SWG is fic-only) so if it shows up prominently there, people are bound to notice.
