My problem is a bit of the opposite: have no problem with the colors and stuff (the comic is really gorgeous), but I really wish I could care about the characters more.

Same. I think her color use is outstanding, but none of these characters are interesting. Maybe Odin, he's kind of my type.

agreed. while they have their moments (when Ava demanded a second chance at life, for example), most of them are pretty same-y and kinda assholes in an annoying way. Doesn't help that you can't convey a lot with such a slow moving story.

Yanno, you're right.

I got into Ava's Demon not long after it started. I thought it looked amazing and the way it was set up was very professional and slick. Eventually, I started to archive*binge it, since the story was moving fairly slowly at that point in time. I stopped reading after the Christmas/Kickstarter hiatus and only recently caught up with it because I was bored one afternoon. And tbh, I'm contemplating dropping it from my webcomic 'must read' list.

It's a *beautiful* looking comic, no questions. But when I started to dig past the prettiness, I'm finding I'm wanting so much more in terms of characterization. =/ I agree with one of the anons above me, in that the characters are all kind of assholes and not in the likable sort of way. I get why from a story standpoint (Ava in particular), but IMHO, they're just not all that memorable. I couldn't even name a single character besides Ava and maybe Odin. At least with something like Homestuck (which if I'm not mistaken, the creator of Ava's Demon is/was a fan of), every character has some defining trait/personality that makes them stand out. Here...? Not so much.

It's taking too long to get going, in my opinion. I might keep reading, if only to see Gil get smacked with the reality that Titan is only using him.

Yeah, I dunno how we're going to get to the end of such an apparently sprawling story before the year 2050, at the pace we're going.

That's why I started just not reading for a month or two, and then going back a few months later to catch up in the archives. Archive Marathons every few months seem to be the only way to read this comic without the tedium of following each update as they come.
