BatB is one of my favorite stories, so I was really looking forward to seeing how they treated it in OUaT, but then they made Rumpelstiltskin the beast, and I kind of lost interest in the both of them, and the longer the show went on, the less I liked her (and Rumplewhatshisface), so I get you.

(I wouldn't say I hate Belle, but I don't particularly like her either. Sometimes she irritates me. Her relationship with Rumple doesn't do anything for me either, and I kind of loathe Rumple 98% of the time, so that doesn't help.)

I was super excited when it was announced he was going to be the beast because I loved Rumpelstiltskin at that point, but then their actual episode happened. Still was on board even though I felt their relationship was extremely simplistic and rushed. Then the season one finale happened... And then season two happened... :|
