Me too. Honestly, she just comes across as an idiot, brushing every bad thing Rumple does under the rug and saying "but he's changed!!!11"

I'm the other way around. love her but hate Rumple (I guess he's interesting as a character, but to me he's worse than Regina, Hook, and the other supposedly reformed villains though not quite as bad as Cora).

BatB is one of my favorite stories, so I was really looking forward to seeing how they treated it in OUaT, but then they made Rumpelstiltskin the beast, and I kind of lost interest in the both of them, and the longer the show went on, the less I liked her (and Rumplewhatshisface), so I get you.

heh, idk how much blame goes to the writers, but the actress is really hit and miss. i liked her just fine in lost, but i find it a lot harder to like her in once upon a time (except when she lost her memories, that was pretty nice acting).

You know, disliking/hating a woman doesn't make you a misogynist. There are some really awful ladies out there, and sometimes you just don't like someone.

Yeah, she's the worst part of the show for me. I blame it on the acting more than anything, although the writing isn't far behind. I don't remember being bothered by her at all on Lost, but her Belle is just awful.

I ended up hating Mako from Kill la Kill just because of her voice. She's actually a pretty great character, but her voice really, really annoys me.

Disliking a female character =/= misogyny. It's okay not to like some women/girls/female characters, anon. If it gets to the point where you don't like any women/girls/female characters, then you can smack yourself around for misogyny.

How can you hate Belle? She's smart, noble, and genuinely good-hearted. I'm probably biased because I only like two of the regulars anymore and she's one of them, but... she's wonderful.

I wouldn't say I HATE her, but I don't like her and I have no interest in her character or storyline, even though the animated version is one of my favorite Disney movies. I also find her acting to be among the worst on the show and THAT is saying something.

I hate her, too. She's incredibly grating. The character's decisions (at least at the point I was watching) are insane and obnoxiously ill advised. I can't stand her relationship with Rumplestiltskin. Yeah, I'd say there are reasons to hate her that don't have anything to do with misogyny.

I hate her with Rumple. She is hardly a character without him. She's boring, whiny, and needs to let Rumple go as she true love. She'd be better off without him.

I think she's just so insipid. She has no personality. She only seems to exist as Rumplestiltskin's cheerleader. And the "look at how smart I am, I read books" while continually doing stupid things.

I think the problem's more with the writing than the actress. The show gets really dopey with it's whole "true love will fix all" shtick. I get that it's fairy tales but wasn't this suppose to be a 'darker twist' on them. Some things should have repercussions.

I never thought Emilie De Ravin was a bad actress, but I honesntly find her terrible as Belle (the writing doesn't really help there either). I liked in her first episode very much, but by now she's taking me out of the scenes.

Another thing that doesn't help is Rumbelle imo. It's one thing to fall for the 'bad guy'... it's another thing to fall for the bad guy and constantly go on about his good heart and how he's actually a good person and just missunderstood (Which would be more understandable if he really had changed).

I like her because of Rumple. Charming and Neal are just too fucking goody-two-shoes and Hook is being set up as a charming rogue with morals. Rumple gets to stay Chaotic Neutral. Plus I love me some fucked up fictional relationships.

Okay, that is a name that calls out for a nickname, and I think "Rumple" is not that bad.

I mean "Rum" would okay, but "Rump" or "Rumpy", ugh. I just can't see "Stilt" and "Skin" would have some unfortunate associations.

I am a stupid fangirl who loooooves the Rumple/Belle relationship, but I admit I wished they did use Belle better. I feel like half the time, they can't think of a good story arc for her.

Sorry, OP. I love OUAT's Belle. (Then again, it's pretty rare for me to come across a Beauty, or a BatB variant, that I don't like. It does happen--the current remake of the 1980s BatB tv show makes me rage. But eh. Have you seen Emilie de Ravin in other stuff? Just wondering if it's the actress. I can't think of any actresses that make me cringe just by existing, but definitely a couple of actors. As for the "Rumple" thing, it's not only Belle. Regina, Malcolm/Pan, Cora . . . plus if any name on the show or anywhere cries out for a nickname, it's Rumpelstiltskin. It could be worse. She could call him Rumpie.

Yeah, I'm going to just be echoing a lot of the comments here already, but I'm not fond of her either. I don't hate her, but I'm more interested in almost every other character on the show, and it irritates me that she was made a regular when more interesting (to me) characters like Red/Ruby got shoved to the side.

Part of it I think is the actress. I really don't think Emilie de Ravin was the best choice for that role. I remember liking her as Tess on Roswell (up until she killed Alex but that's another story) so I don't think it's necessarily that she's a bad actress. It's just that this wasn't the part for her. Then again, it's kind of a thankless role. She's basically just Rumplestiltskin's conscience, and her character pretty much just revolves around him. I find her more interesting when she's not with him, like the episode where she went monster hunting with Mulan, but honestly even then she's not a favorite.

I can't really fault her for "Rumple" though. What else would you call him? I can't think of any other shortening of that name that makes sense.

My secret would be that I'm still weirded out by her accent. I just can't hear it and think "Belle." Well, I'm badly sheltered, I suppose.
