There generally isn't much point in going to a doctor.... if you are certain it's the flu.

A lot of things start out with flu like symptoms and are things you should absolutely see a physician about, like whooping cough, pneumonia, the recent measles outbreaks...

If it lasts for a week or more it's generally a good idea to see a physician, but make sure you wear a surgical mask when you go out, to protect yourself and others.
