Am I like the only one here who actually thinks the idea of a female!doctor doom would be really cool? I mean they already race-swapped a character, I don't see why they couldn't gender-swap another character.

But knowing the film industry and comicbook fandom in general, it probably wouldn't go down well wouldn't it? :(

Because changing a character's race is not as significant as changing their gender.

That depends on a *lot* of different factors. Not the least of which are the attitudes towards race and gender in that person's community.

I don't really see it as "cool" but I don't see it as offensive or wrong, either. It's just a thing that is (or would/could be).

I think it could be cool in theory. It could be really, really awesome if they thought about it and executed it well and cast the right person and knocked it out of the park. But I have precisely zero faith in the ability of whoever is making the film to do it without having it be awful or at best bad.

I kind of just want them to keep it simple and just make as basic a Fantastic Four movie as possible (in fact, in some ways, I would kind of prefer it if they kept Doom mostly out of the movie and saved him for a possible sequel, rather than trying to do the origin AND the Doom story, but I recognize that's probably impossible). Just prove that a good FF movie exists before they try anything complicated I guess

I have zero faith in their ability to make a good movie period. Don't matter how much race or gender bending they do. They are batting 0 for 2, 0 for 3 is coming.

yeahhhhhhhhh but hope springs eternal, I guess. and I really like a lot of the casting decisions.

I just want there to be a good FF movie. It would be so good if they pulled it off. I know they probably won't but I guess I'd like them to maximize their chances.

Honestly, I do like the idea, but I think the only way it could plausibly work would be if Reed Richards was also genderswapped. Otherwise you have a female villain who's got a huge chip on her shoulder because her male rival is the superior scientist. Unfortunate implications, ahoy!

Even if their both girls, it's gonna be taken wrong. Probably depicted exactly the way we don't want to take it to.

AND is so vain and insecure she wears a mask all the time rather than let anyone see her scars!

For real, I've never thought about it before this secret brought it up, but I see no reason why it SHOULDN'T work. They might do a shitty job? Sure they could, but even with a male Doom they could still make a subpar villain and a shitty movie
