I liked the first series better, including the direction it went after it caught up with the manga. I think this is an unpopular opinion, however, I think it's an unpopular opinion because a lot of FMA fans also read the manga and so "manga elitism" happened, as it does in every anime fandom. I'm not saying Brotherhood is worse, but for me, the first one was more beautiful. Better art (I feel like?), more concise, touching story.
