That IS lame. Not what you're feeling, that's not lame at all. I would say more people than you think feel the same way, even if they pretend not to, or put on a brave face.

But the fact that you let a feeling like that cause you to delete your fics, probably really disappointing the 99+ readers who loved them? That is lame, and it's letting the mockers win.
