I'm not reading the title, but whenever I see a bit of it, I get confused...is it actually in 616 continuity?

I'd been under the impression it is, but, seeing the situation that got Toad fired, I'm seeing Husk being evil, so I'm lost...

It is in 616 continuity. Toad was fired for being a mole on the side of the Hellfire Academy and putting students in danger. He did it out of love for Husk, who got a pass for her behavior because her mutation was messing with his mind and she's being treated.

Not sure whether you realized the "his" there is a typo, so just dropping in way after the party is ended to let you know that the "his" is a typo-- Husk's mutation was messing with her mind. Just in case that was throwing you off.

I mentally corrected the typo so fast I didn't even realize it said 'his' until you mentioned it.

Husk's mutation affecting Toad's mind would make even less sense.

I thought that might be the case-- I didn't notice either until I read that part again when you quoted it-- but I figured it wouldn't hurt to point it out just in case, since it throws an entirely weirder light on the situation. Sorry if I was annoying :)
