This secret inspired me to check AO3 to see if The Worst Fic I've Ever Read was still there. It is. 99.9% of the time, if I don't like a fic, I backbutton and immediately forget about it. But this fic was not just incompetently written, it was also full of character bashing and really awful tropes that the author didn't seem to see as awful, most notably, rape is love. I started reading the fic, then read the comments, read more of the fic, read more comments, then went to another part of the internet to complain.

I did notice that some of that author's fics now have dubcon and noncon tags, so I must not have been the only one to question her idea of "romantic".

The last time I tore a fic apart was back in 2004, a Weiss Kreuz fic on mediaminer.

What fic? I've been looking for some badfic to read.

The most recent badfic probably wasn't that bad compared to all of AO3, it's just that I filter my fandom experience pretty heavily. When the fic urge strikes, I tend to reread fics I like.

If you want badfic, the Weiss Kreuz section on mediaminer still exists. WK fandom was that magical badfic combo of youngish fans and a source material that was slashy and wanted to be grimdark.
