I am so sorry / I understand

I am older than a lot of the fans in my fandoms, and I tend to read/write long fics and also rare pairings or for small fandoms. I was badly bullied through most of my life and I don't put up with it or subject myself to it now. I pretty much don't go looking for reviews of my stuff, good or bad - I write fic because it's beautiful and it helps me and others. There have been fics that meant as much to me, if not more, than the canon they came from. There have been fics and fanart that changed my life in awesome ways.

If I came across something like you described, I would be very hurt. I don't rip total strangers a new asshole if I don't like something of theirs, and I will never understand why someone would be that cruel - online or in person, negativity is negativity.

I would probably put my fic back up... But hide it / make it private (if that's an option) until I was feeling stronger.

If you see anything like that again, try not to read it, just close the site. Don't re-visit it, don't dwell on it. Easier said than done. I do hope you write again. I keep thinking of some of my favorite fic writers (I love long fic, the longer the better) and how sad I would be if I could never read some of my favorites again. You have likely touched someone's life with your fic. But whatever you decide to do, I am glad you shared and my heart goes out to you.
