Re: Shojo recs? Late question, but would appreciate answers
Boku no Chikyuu o Mamotte: weird scifi/reincarnation/romance/apocalyptic thing; I personally think it's amazing in its weirdness, and I love the sheer character development.
Cat Street: Ex-child actor and social outcast slowly finds a new look on life when she discovers a unique charter school for people like her
Emma: beautiful and sweet Victorian romance between a maid and a rich young man
Fruits Basket: a staple of the shoujo genre, and for good reason; young, plucky high school girl discovers a family in which its member turn into zodiac animals when hugged by the opposite sex; so many different awesome characters and surprising holds some dark moments for the ludicrous premise
Miriam: wild west manga; young orphan girl is taken in by an older, sharp shooter
together they fight crime; simple and fluffy manga with some romance in the final volumesOmae ga sekai o kowashitai nara: dark vampire manga done right; it doesn't hold its punches; takes the concept of a cycle of hate and revenge spanning life times and pushes it to its limits
Red River: historical, girl-travels-backwards-through-time manga; very well researched and accurate; like game of thrones, be careful of who you get attached too, because A LOT of people die; overall it has a happy ending though, yay shoujo
Vampire Juujikai: says it's shounen, but i view this as a shounen/shoujo mix; lots of fighting sequences, but the backstory is PURE shoujo; there are so many plot twists, but they all feel natural rather than being for shock value; i may or may not have cried at the ending of this one
If you like any/all of these, I have more recs, but these are my highest rated, complete series.
