ok see here is the thing

it is perfectly possible to write off a character without straight up killing them

but writers for shows seem to have a hard time grasping this concept (especially when the character happens to be a lady)

(Anonymous) 2014-04-11 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
except the finale also killed off a guy

With the track record for white male characters, he'll be back soon.

Granted, Kate came back so maybe no one stays dead ever. Fingers crossed for Erica and Boyd (yeah right).

+1

(Anonymous) 2014-04-11 11:18 pm (UTC)(link)
would that really be so much better, in anything except fan perceptions

(Anonymous) 2014-04-11 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Problem is, if they don't kill off the character, there's still the chance that they could come back, and as long as there's that chance, there's the fans bugging the creators and the actors about it, even if they've made their point clear. Plus there's the question of "X is happening, why haven't we heard from/seen Y reacting to it even if they're not in this show anymore".

Killing them off is the easiest way to provide "closure" for the actor.

you are implying the loudest fans are actually sane enough to care whether or not the character is dead

(Anonymous) 2014-04-11 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
This is honestly one of the only arguments I've seen for killing off characters and it's actually pretty weak.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-12 12:15 am (UTC)(link)
Teen Wolf has already brought two characters back from the dead (three if you count Jackson's one-two-death-disappearance), so that argument doesn't really fly in this case.

But the actress wanted her character to die. (Probably in the hopes that TW fans wouldn't ask her a million times a minutes, "So, when will you be returning to Teen Wolf? So, when will you be returning to Teen Wolf? So, when will you be returning to Teen Wolf?")

(Anonymous) 2014-04-11 11:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Deets on that? I've only seen interviews stating she wanted to leave, not that she wanted her character to die.

She's said that it didn't make sense for her character to simply walk off while everyone's fighting the Big Bad. The character was a strong, loyal female warrior, and she wouldn't just abandon her friends and father.

So do tell, if you could see Allison doing just that. What kind of strong female character would she be, then?

But, nah! UH-PRESHION FTW!!!!
