I don't think the show's popularity is based on its actual quality. I think it's popular because it's sweet, inoffensive, and it doesn't make you want to throw yourself off a cliff. A lot of modern media seems to inspire feelings of depression.

That's exactly why I started watching it. It's not the be-all-end-all of television, but sometimes cute and cheery are all you really want or need.

I started watching it in grad school. Life sucked and I was complaining to my friend. She told me to get beer, she'd get pizza, and we'd watch ponies all night. And that's the secret of higher education

It was. Grad school sucked for many reasons and I was fortunate to have friends like her to help me through it.

I'm glad I'm not going to grad school. Undergrad is bad enough. I don't like academia.

99% of my problems in grad school were caused by manufactured drama that came from the professors. The other 1% was sexual harassment in my internship. To hell with academia.

To be fair there were a couple of professors I liked and MOST of my cohort weren't tools. But still. To hell with academia.

This made me happy reading it. I'm jealous. But maybe one day I too shall feel happiness.

Happiness comes from pizza and ponies. Get those two things in your life and happiness will come to you.
