My sister has taken advantage of my good will for years - asking me for favours while I'm super busy at work, that kind of thing. Door mat that I am, I always made time for her. Now she refuses to apologise for not calling or texting me for three months after I almost died in hospital.

When I explained my reasons for being angry with her? I'm bad natured apparently.

FFS. Just how am I in the wrong here?

People who take advantage of others without giving anything back never see themselves in the wrong, because that would require not being self-centered dicks, which they haven't mastered yet.

Stop the favors completely. This can be done quite easily even for doormat personalities like your own, by not taking her calls entirely.

That's a shitty, awful thing to do, especially since, you know, YOU ALMOST DIED. what the hell kind of person doesn't visit their own sister in hospital? jesus.

stop giving her favours, and quit being her doormat. you don't owe her anything (yes, even if she's your sister) - she's just showed you how many fucks she gives about you, which is exactly zero.

thing is, you're going to have to be assertive, because the only person who will stand up for your interests is YOU. you've gotta be your own soccer mom in this scenario.

doesn't mean you have to be mean or rude to her. just don't let her use you.
