Yes, you're right that Sam/Steve is stronger. No, that's not going to overcome the fact that Bucky's white.

What.

Anon, the movie all but worshiped the Bucky/Steve. From the de-brainwashing to the "shared life experiences" line to the "till the end of the line" deathpact to the "I'm going after him" ending. You don't have to ship it or think they had the most chemistry, but don't pretend there isn't basis.

(For me personally, I didn't understand Sam's almost immediate loyalty to Steve. Still don't--the timeline just made it seem really weird to me. Of course, I'm not a huge fan of the comics, so maybe that's something that makes more sense in there.)

lol i doubt it was deliberate but the "no natasha i'm not gonna ask out these girls, i want someone who's had similar life experiences" *ENTER BUCKY* thing is still so amusing to me.

This. I could not believe they pulled that. Seriously? "All the guys back home are dead" and the I'm "too busy" but hold up, is that Bucky? Why yes, it is...now to devote myself to rescuing him. Come on, it was complete fanfiction material.

One of my personal favorite moments that I think deserves more appreciation is when Sam tells Steve "he's not the kind you save, he's the kind you stop" and Steve's just like yeah whatever, let's go steal my old uniform. Like, it's never even a question for him. He's gonna save Bucky or he's gonna die trying.

Sam is just so good for Steve.

hero worship thing going on

Aaaand that might be part of why I don't ship it. Hero worship in pairings skeeves me out hardcore (also why I don't ship Steve/Coulson) but I'm sure there are other reasons. Just doesn't flip my switch.

Sam's hero worship isn't like Coulson's though. The two behave as equals, not like a hero and his 'fanboy'. Sam admires Steve. It's the respect of a fellow soldier who thinks he's pretty darn cool, not "plz sign my trading cards".

And boring.
