So if you're so fucking smart, why don't you explain to the class what you think a GOOD superhero movie is?

(TDKR was weak, I'll give you that)

The rest of the Dark Knight series was good, if not great at parts. The rest of the Iron Man series was fun and entertaining. You can literally just look at the rest of the movies before these ones and find better superhero movies.

There's no good Superman movies, which is sad, and I've never even liked Superman that much. But a good movie could change my mind.

As for others: the original X-Men was good. (Not touching the rest of the series.) Hellboy was kind of stupid but it was a blast to watch. The original Spiderman was decent. (Much better than the recent one imo) The first Captain America movie was okay. The Avengers was good. The Incredibles was good, though I don't know if that counts. I'm not saying these are the best superhero movies of all time, but I enjoyed them far more than any of the ones in the secret.

And for the record, I'm not nearly as passionate about this subject as the secret makes me sound. I'm not judging people over the internet. For all I know, you have really good taste. It's just that a long, polite argument about why I think these movies failed the superheros they were trying to portray and why I side-eye anyone who loves one/two of them and bitches about the other(s) wouldn't have fit in the secret.
I also made this secret directly after I'd gotten out of an argument with someone who was insisting that The Dark Knight Rises was literally the best batman movie ever made (Yes, even better than TDK), only to go on and condemn Man of Steel and Iron Man 3 for sucking. I just- THEY ALL SUCK. Maybe for different reasons, but they ALL SUCK. So yeah, I was pissed off, sorry for the poor wording.

I just- THEY ALL SUCK I DIDN'T LIKE THEM.

Fixed that for you.

Was I saying otherwise in that sentence? Unless someone is saying "this is objectively/literally the worst movie ever and that is a fact," I think 'in my opinion' is usually implied.

DA

We're encouraging the use of I-statements.

Well, the fact that you're ~~~judging~~~ people implies that you think they are objectively bad.

So maybe you should make yourself more clear. Better yet, don't care so much about what other people like or dislike.

Just going to paste this from above because I've been typing at work all day and I'm tired as shit:

Yeah, this was really just directed at one person in particular who I know has sucky taste, and pisses me off when they praise TDKR for being the best batman movie and bitch about IM3 and MoS in the same fucking minute. It's the whole hypocritical attitude they have that makes me judge them, not the fact that they liked and disliked certain movies. Again, I wasn't really clear, sorry.

So... you don't like the genre as a whole, which means they're all equivocally bad? The side-eyer has become the side-eyed.

Where did I say I don't like the superhero genre? Saying "These three superhero movies were bad" is not saying "All superhero movies are bad."

Iron Man 2 was bad, even if I still liked it at times. It was nothing but a commercial for The Avengers. Iron Man 3 was at least ABOUT the goddamn man who owns the suit and not the leader of SHIELD wanting him for his suit.
