Not hating, but it has Japanese boys called to fight for Athena to save her.

So it's a good reversed equivalent to the movie. And I don't remember hearing anyone complaining about that aspect.

It has boys from all over the world, not only Japanese ones.

But the 5 heroes are Japanese.

Not true. Seiya, Ikki, and Shun are Japanese but Shiryu is Chinese and Hyouga is Russian. The only other specifically Japanese character I can think of (other than Seiya's sister) is Saori's adoptive father.
The Gold saints are from all over: Milo, Aiolia, Aioros, and Saga are Greek, Aldebaraan is Brazilian, Mu is Tibetan, Dohko is Chinese, Shaka is from northern India, Camus is French, Shura is Spanish, Deathmask is Italian ...

*shrug* point taken, but one's name does not change one's country of origin.

As the Bronze Saints were usually "orphans" from various nations gathered together and raised at Kiddo's estate in Japan, I can easily head-canon any "non-ethnic" names as a result of their not having birth certificates.)

Guys, do you read the manga?

All Bronze saints are half Japanese. They are all brothers of the same japanese father (Mitsumasa Kido), even thought it sounds totally stupid, considering the fact there is over hundred children bronze knights to be. The orphan organization in the anime is just a better sounding alteration to not sounds like a idiot bullshit in the manga.

So point taken, this anime/manga sucks at characterization.

DA

(Assuming I'm understanding correctly; not familiar with the show...) Do they really count as Chinese and Russian if they're culturally Japanese, having been raised at an estate in Japan from an early enough age that they didn't have or couldn't know/communicate their "native/original" names?

Does a Chinese child really count as Chinese if they're culturally American, adopted and raised in America by white American parents from a very young age?
