Scholarships?

(Anonymous) 2014-04-13 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
How do you guys find scholarships? I'm looking at grad school in the fall and have applied to some through the school, but I really want to apply for more. It's expensive and I need the money. D: Anyone here applied for any?? I know that is a very broad question. I tried one scholarship website (Scholarship.com I think?) but after going through the effort of signing up, they had very few listings.

When I was going through college one of the conditions for my college funding from BVR (gov't org that helps disabled people find work) was that I find and apply for at least two scholarships every so often. (I think it was supposed to be every week but fuck me if I'm gonna do that, waste of time and often it wasn't even possible.)

I used fastweb so try that.

In which country are you planning on going to graduate school? Depending on your location I think I may have a website that might help.

Are you in the US? What are you planning on studying? I was an engineering major and the best advice I was given was to reach out to professors at the schools you are looking to go to and discuss what they research and if you'd be interested in working with them. I offered myself up to be a TA/RA but they didn't find a position.

I chose a school based on where I'd feel comfortable and because I had already talked to them, by October they had found me scholarship money. That's not a guarantee at all but my best advice is just to email the professors and talk to them about what their specific department offers.
