I went to see this movie without any expectation (I didn't even see the trailer, I just went because I wanted to laugh @ Jin Akanishi) and I happen to believe it was actually BAD, myth aside. I mean, I'm not a fan of adaptations of any kind of myths, but the screenplay was AWFUL. I did like the magic, the ending, the adaptation and the setting of the movie, but the screenplay ruined it FOREVER to me. Even though they used short lines (because they were japanese actors acting in english), it wasn't well paced and it appeared as if the actors had no acting skills when it was the screenplay's fault. So yeah, the movie had good points and the adaptation wasn't bad actually, but the screenplay + not even tying many dots of the plot???? that left everyone ????? = bad movie. Nice effects, good adaptation, but terrible movie.

edit: oh and I read your comment about the slow pace being a japanese thing. Well I do know about it since I've started recently to read japanese literature, but this thing was too slow, even for that "slow japanese pace" thing. Besides, it was really rushed sometimes and then awfully slow, so ugh.

Lolololol at laughing at Akanishi. I might find that enjoyable, especially as something to do with friends, but I sure as hell won't spend money for it, hahah.

I actually used my student's ID, so I got the ticket for like $2.5 on my local currency. I didn't mind paying that, but I wouldn't have payed more than $3 on that movie lol, it was awful

And I did go with my friends to laugh at him (we laughed so hard at Akanishi that a guy started to rant about us in english, dude believed we wouldn't understand lol) so yeah, it's a rather enjoyable experience 10/10 :)
