Ooooh I've seen that happen a few times on TV where they call someone a French Canadian but when they speak, they clearly have a French accent and not a Quebecois one. I know that not everyone is aware of the difference but dang, TV people. A wee bit of research isn't a bad thing.

I wonder if people in the UK feel the same way whenever a clearly American actor is sporting the wrong regional accent from where their character is supposed to be from.

Yes. Although all English people come from the south-east, don't you know?
