BioShock Infinite (with mentions of BioShock 1 and 2)

So this certainly isn't the most shocking twist, but it's the one most fresh on my mind. I genuinely let down my guard, started shipping Elizabeth/Booker and did not for a second believe that the two of them were related. Did not realize Booker was Comstock, did not think the whole 'multiple realities' thing at the end of the game was going to happen.

Looking back...it feels obvious, but I thought that BioShock was getting away from 'family' storylines (TWO OTHER GAMES. TWO OTHER GAMES THEY DID THIS AND I STILL DIDN'T SUSPECT! what the actual fuck, self) and completely misread Elizabeth and Booker's relationship. Oops.

I'm an idiot, I guess. And a perv. What can you do?

I'm right there with you. Doesn't help that I love age difference in ship and was like :D at the idea. It turned into D: during the final scenes.

I've even shipped incest pairings in fandom before but I didn't expect this one at all and ended up feeling really weird and guilty about it. IDK, it just shook me. Part of me was like, "...Alright, whatever I guess," and another part of me said, "BUT WHY ARE THEY RELATED? THEY NEEDED TO RUN AWAY TO PARIS AND GET MARRIED! WHYYYY?!"

So much confusion. So much.

So. Last night, I could neither check nor read this comment, as I hadn't finished the game yet (I'm reeeeeally behind when it comes to games, lol). But now I have finished it, so I decided to pop back into this thread on the off-chance that it might be seen.

And OMG I am right there with you, man. I thought that the "Anna" he kept remembering was his dead wife or something, and I shipped him and Elizabeth like crazy. I'm pretty sure they structured the narrative that way on purpose, heh.

That said, while I was heartbroken (heartbroken I tell you!) over the reveal that she was his daughter, I can say that I was not nearly as surprised by that as I was at the fact that Booker was Comstock. My mind is still reeling over that one. Well-played, writers. Well-played.

I hope they structured the narrative that way on purpose because I felt really skeevy when 'the big reveal' happened. I mean, there was that scene where Elizabeth asked if Booker was married, then later when he tied her corset, and various other things, like Paris... I took it as romantic and thought they were going to make out by the end of the game. Oh, how wrong I was...

'Booker is Comstock' fucked me up so bad. I'm still kind of confused over that ending. I wasn't in the slightest bit prepared for any of it.

At least I'm not alone in my incestuous father-daughter ship.
