As I understand it, it's actually supposed to be pretty accurate. If there were differences that bugged you, you could talk about them as "I read somewhere that..." without revealing your time behind bars.

You really should give the show a try, OP. It's astoundingly well-done.

I have no opinion on this show, but yeah, you can always claim that you read something somewhere, or that you know someone who did time. But I also understand why you might not be comfortable talking about the subject at all.
