The thing about Sheldon/Penny to me is that their surface differences (like interests and education) are so different, but their core traits--like competitiveness--bounce off each other really well.

I don't watch the show anymore but I always liked the Sheldon and Penny interactions and some of the fic too, I never did read any of the AU's but they sound like they could be fun.

I don't like the show anymore, either, but I like Howard and Raj AUs, which are nowhere near as easy to find as S/P.

Definitely a show where I like the characters but not the execution.

And yeah, I like AUs in general--the more bizarre, the better.

Seconded! I had a pretty messy breakup with the show, so to speak, but MY KINGDOM FOR RAJ/HOWARD AU.

I think there was a recent oneshot with them as jewel thieves? I'll have to look for that one again.

LOL, that was me! Sometimes, if you want something, you have to write it yourself, apparently...

I literally only know of two or three people, including myself, who are still actively writing Howard/Raj.

And yeah, I hate the later seasons and I don't watch the new episodes. But I enjoy the fanfic and hopefully I'll be writing more. Definitely one of those situations where I enjoy fandom/fanon more than the show itself.

I used to write Howard/Raj, and I used to enjoy it, but Stuart/Raj has grabbed my heart and won't let it go. It's truly weird because it's like the one pairing ever that has made it really, really hard to ship either of them with anyone else.

I'm well aware that H/R is no longer popular and that other pairings have supplanted it. You don't have to rub it in.

Their interactions were my favorite part of the show even though I didn't really ship them. I finally had to stop watching because tptb kept shoving Leonard/Penny down our throats and to me they have no chemistry.

Same. It's not like I hate the show but it's just so dull. The couples are boring, being shoved in our faces and it's all the same.

I can't get enough of Sheldon/Penny fic. Love it. So refreshing. (Not just AU but canon too.)

I do actually like the show, though, and a lot of the reason is the Sheldon and Penny interaction.
