I've been rewatching a Taiwanese drama I loved in high school, and it's brought back to me all my feels for the secondary male lead and his damaged, confused, passionate love for the heroine, and all my utter boredom with the wooden fish-eyed hero who got her instead. There must be a special hell for writers who make the non-official couple more romantic and relatable.

Pretty typical Asian idol drama crap, but it's got me thinking... do you guys have any non-end game pairings you really wish had been official instead? What medium did it feature in? Was there any particular factor that decided it for you -- like, say, the runner up's actor bringing a dynamite performance and making you love their character?

I am still sad that Lara and Sam didn't get a victorious kiss at the end of the Tomb Raider reboot. I played the whole game feeling like I was rescuing my girlfriend.

SessKag, but that's just plain wish fulfillment there.

Sheldon/Penny B/

Harry/Hermione and/or Luna/Neville (movie doesn't really count).

Kakashi/Sakura (though i laugh at a recent post about our little OTP...so true it fucking hurts)

In the manga series for it, I wanted Misaki/Ohjiro (Angelic Layer). anime series made me happy for that one.

the big one for Sailor Moon: Usagi/Seiya. Both the anime and the manga series.

THRALL/JAINA ;~;

What did they say about Kakashi/Sakura? And oh god, Seiya/Usagi, even after all these years it hurts.

Regarding KakaSaku: our "evidence" is dependent upon a suspicious dust cloud, arguably normal teammate behavior, and standing next to each other.

I really wish thst Macross Frontier had had the guts to go with a Ranka/Alto/Sheryl threesome ending. I loved all of them to bits and they are fucking perfect as a threesome.

YES. They were the most perfect OT3 ever and I liked that the ending of the TV series left it open for you to interpret it that way if you wanted to (especially the part with Alto talking about how they were both his wings).

That's the main reason I like the tv series ending much bettet. It was left up to the viewers to deicide who he ended up with or if he ended up with nobody at all. I like to pretend tge movies don't exist. They're just terrible with regards to plot and how they treat the characters.

Makorra

Makorra isn't end game? I thought the show was on-going?

They broke them up in the second season, and after the finale they said they weren't ever going to touch on Korra's romantic life again because "fans didn't like it".

Maybe they'll happen at the end of book 4. They had promise and then bad writing happened. Again. I still ship it either way.

I'm surprised someone here likes Makorra. All I've seen on here is hate for it and Mako. Tbh, all the Mako hate has started to make me rethink my indifference to him. I'm starting to like him just out of spite.

I like it. I think it was written really horribly in s2 and that they dragged the love triangle into the ground, but I still ship it anyways. It's a sickness, haha. I also ship Korra with everyone too so that might play into it.

I'm pretty indifferent to it. The writing for it was so damn cringe-inducing, but it didn't really sour me all that much on the pairing. I'm not exactly a huge fan of Korra or Mako has characters though, even though I'm starting to like Mako just because of the hate he gets. Tbh, I don't care enough about any of the characters in Korra to ship them.

Dan/Blair. We could of had it all.

Dan/Blair is weird in that when it was happening everyone loved it and then when it didn't all I heard was how horrible it was. What is up?

Dair was great as it showed how much two characters could grow and support each other. It had been Dan and Blair's healthiest relationship in a long ass time. Chair fans (Chuck/Blair) didn't like them together because they weren't Chair (that's really it).

The Writers broke up Dair in a really shitty way just to appease Chair fans and then made a mockery of their whole show with the ending they gave fans (but yes it was a hilarious ending and I still can't believe it's real).

Kira/Cretak tbh. There was more chemistry packed in those two episodes than there ever was between Kira and Odo (at least after they started pushing them together--they were excellent as friends in the early seasons).

Harry/Luna (I shipped this so hard!)
Quark/Ezri Dax (I never liked Bashir/Dax.)
Bashir/Garak (this is kinda canon...)

My headcanon is that Bashir and Ezri broke up soon after the ending. Idk if I like her with Quark but I could be convinced. :|a

eta - her saying "If Worf hadn't come along, Jadzia would have chosen you" was really stupid imo

I'm gonna make it my headcanon that that's not true it was just a line to get him into bed

Jadzia was never into Julian. They had, like, zero chemistry. She liked that transparent head dude better than him. If she like Julian better why didn't she date him before Worr came along? He didn't show up until the 4th(?) season. I could see Ezri being into him, because he was more confident and mature and they seemed like they could be more compatible, but Julian was hella into Garak so I can't ship Ezri with him at all.

It was totes a pick up line.
