This is me too. Except for the hoping other ships fail because that is mean. But I need all the fics for this character and ship. This film hit buttons I knew I had and buttons I never knew were mine until I saw it. I haven't been reading much fic lately, but now its all I can do. I need it all.

Yea, I think hoping the other ships fail is a bit much (and cruel). Plus, it's not like there isn't plenty of Steve/Bucky being written right now. I can't even keep up with all the new fic and most nights I read for a couple hours.

(That said, I AM glad that even though Bucky didn't have much screen-time, he was a huge part of this film and gave Steve purpose. I had read most of the Steve/Bucky fic a while back and I know now the pairing is going to be even more popular. I look forward to all the fanworks and discussion.)

And yes, it is a problem. I'm more attracted to Winter Soldier than I have any right to be, and that's coming from somehow who's always liked Bucky. Something about that cold, calculating manner, and the casual badassness...

I"m super attracted to both of them. And I really wasn't in the first movie. The Bucky obsession is new to me. And i'm not even reading just porn. I'm reading the sappy hurt/comfort fics where Steve saves Bucky. The dark fics where Bucky still has the remnants of the Winter Soldier and Steve learns to deal. Yes, I'm reading the porn, but I'm reading the other stuff too which is unusual for me lately considering I barely have time for fic reading.

Oh, yea, I don't think I could ever not be attracted to Evans, he's 100% my type. His muscles and his goofy smile and dat voice... He's just gorgeous and as Cap, he's so good. His personality draws me in.

Bucky, well, I love Bucky too, and I def find Sebastian Stan attractive outside TWS, but...there's something about him as that character that puts it over the top. I can't put my finger on exactly what it is, but...god, he's just so stupidly hot.

I'm reading all the fics too! The hurt/comfort is my favorite, but anything where Steve and Bucky come together and support each other is high on my list right now. The porn...well, not gonna say I don't enjoy it, but right now the story is more important to me.

Cap/Buck is totally worth taking the time, though!

May I join in in saying I've been asking myself the same? I know Seb Stan is hot, I understand the outfit is hot, I know the pairing potential is awesome. But I've reached a level of obsession that demands for an explanation!

I think for me it could be the fact that Sebastian was evidently playing his character after Terminator (the heaviness and the unstoppability and the dead eyes) and that at the same time he's like a kid in his handlers' hands. It's a lethal combination: vulnerability/superbaddassery. It's usually impossible to find an actor who managed to do both really well IMO, but this guy fucking does.

Something about Winter Soldier transcends explanation. This is fact now. Something about him is so appealing and all his scenes are so incredibly satisfying. (Unf, those fight scenes!)

Sebastian's acting doesn't hurt, though. The work he does with his eyes in this film is amazing. And there IS something almost innocent about WS despite everything, because he doesn't really have a choice, he doesn't understand what he's doing or why, he just knows the mission and only the mission. (Until Steve.) And when Steve makes him feel, makes him doubt, he does look like a confused kid. The whole package (both psychically and otherwise) is so compelling.

I seem to like my men really happy. First Thor and now Steve. Bucky is physically my type, but not really in personality. I think the appeal of him for me is more vaguely relating to him at least in the hurt/comfort context and sort of a cathartic thing. So its not attraction per say, though I do find him attractive, but there's something about his character that just gets to me.

I'm right there with you about the Thor and Steve love! Though Steve went through some heavy shit in this film... He was dealing with some serious depression and PTSD and I just wanted to hug him and say, "Everything will be alright". Poor Steve. Poor Sam. Poor Bucky. Poor Nat. Poor everyone, tbh.

Bucky Barnes was made for hurt/comfort fic.

Considering I came here last night asking if anybody had any AUs where Bucky was Captain America and Steve was the Winter Soldier (Yes, I was the anon asking for that)....

And then subsequently lost several hours on AO3 reading Winter Soldier fic.

Personally, it's Sebastian Stan's eyes that sell it more than anything. Oh good grief those eyes.

Ooo, did you ever find an AU like that? I hope you did! If not...just wait, it'll happen.

And you know you enjoyed it. It was time well spent. :p

No, sadly I didn't. If it doesn't turn up, I may have to try my own hand at it. We'll see.

I have a huge thing for the arm, it's not even funny. Like I really enjoyed seeing Bucky as WS as well but that arm. I should not be this enamoured with a fucking metal arm.

(Also I keep seeing that you have new WS icons, where are you getting them because they are super pretty!)

The metal arm is...something else. Again, I can't explain it, but the aesthetic is appealing and the power in his punches, holy shit. It does things to me. Combine that with the long hair and the mask and the stupid amount of black... ugh, I didn't stand a chance.

Yessssssss I agree with all of this. As you said his sheer power is amazing and watching him use it and throw it about is unspeakably hot to me, like seeing him dressed up as WS was one thing but seeing him moving about in it is something else entirely.

Oooooh, sweet. The one of the reasons I am looking forward to the DVD release is more icons.

I have a thing for hot people being badass and competent and Winter Soldier is exactly that. His precision and power and single-mindedness is intoxicating. His fight scenes with Steve are brutal and imo easily the best in the MCU so far. Plus...they seem so realistic compared to the rest of the MCU's fight scenes. What with all the hand to hand combat, and guns and actually reloading the guns. Just, ugh, every move of his is so well choreographed, I can't take it.

Sadly, that is one of my reasons as well. That and just watching it over and over again, drooling over the cast and then crying over Steve and Bucky.
