Re: Favorite Original Soundtracks: Past and Present!
Definitely quote. I read fic and listen to it lately, full immersion. I'm fearing for my life this time around, as never a fandom got me so bad before.
Schindler's list is amazing.
As for me, I noticed over the years that I'm completely crazy for anything Thomas Newman ever composed. It must be because I play the piano... I think he's one of the absolute best.
Morricone must be my favorite composer though, as he ranges so much. Also Jerry Goldsmith, James Horner, sometimes Hans Zimmer too.
The Gladiator and Thor come to mind now as very accomplished soundtracks. Also fucking Alien and Aliens (Aliens is one of most listened to OST ever, the piece when they take off from the base at the end is FANTASTIC), Escape from NY and The Thing (Carpenter is my man), every Sergio Leone spaghetti western ever, Once upon a time in America, The Intouchables (like I said, Morricone never fails in my eyes)... I could go on like this forever I think.
Re: Favorite Original Soundtracks: Past and Present!
And yes Morricone has some great tracks (though I have not listened to a lot of his music).
Re: Favorite Original Soundtracks: Past and Present!
Hans Zimmer blew my mind with Gladiator, then was hit and miss for a while (at least for me), 'cause I thought he was starting to recycle himself a bit, but now seems to be in great shape once again. I also loved Rush's OST just to say one of the more recent of him I recall.
