I can never figure out if most fans like or dislike "The Empath" from Star Trek TOS, but in any case I love it despite the paper-thin plot because of Kirk and Spock and McCoy playing a baseball inning of I Get To Sacrifice Myself First, Suckers! and McCoy totally cheating.

I always loved 'The Empath', but McCoy is my favourite so I'm horribly biased ;) The episode is basically Spock-Kirk-McCoy, a love story in five minutes.

Honestly, though. What the hell did Spock think he was going to do? When it comes to keeping people safe, McCoy's never given a good goddamn about command. What works for one stubborn idiot will work just as well for two, especially if the second one is dumb enough to turn his back after watching the first.
