Why? The books are bricks. I've read all of them but I don't begrudge the people who don't. Maybe they don't have time, maybe they just don't like reading. They're still allowed to enjoy the story and suspense.

AYRT

This thread is about my stupid snobbery. I know it's stupid. I'm too polite to speak it aloud. But I just find people who watch GOT but haven't read the books to be kind of annoying. Especially the ones who name their pets/children "Khaleesi" with no notion that it's a title, not a freaking name. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

People give their pets/kids title names all the time. Have you never seen a person named Duke or a cat named Princess?

Right...but those people tend to understand that's what they're doing.

Uh. In the show it's a title equivalent to Queen. I haven't read the books and I got that. Wtf?

This is what really irks me:

http://www.csmonitor.com/Books/chapter-and-verse/2014/0410/Game-of-Thrones-title-Khaleesi-rises-in-popularity-as-baby-name-video

It you want to name your daughter after the Queen, you'd name her Elizabeth, right? Unless you didn't understand the basic fact that Queen is the title, not the name...

To be fair, there are people who literally call their daughters "Queen", so...

I named my cat Khaleesi. When people ask me what it means, I tell them it's a title like Queen or Princess. I don't see the big deal.

Dear lord, do none of you in this thread have any sort of reading comprehension?

Especially the ones who name their pets/children "Khaleesi" with no notion that it's a title, not a freaking name.

Hope that helps.

Anon I think you should do some yoga or something you seem way uptight.

I'm not really, but yoga's always a good call.
