Exactly. She's known that he's been blacking out for a while, and she's subtly manipulating him as it suits her. The way she unloaded that her brother raped her minutes before his prom date showed up; more recently when she lets him get all the way to the driver's test seat and then pulls him out of the car. When the school required him to go to a therapist, and she talked over him for the session ...

Further down someone talked about how she's got codependency issues, and I agree. I don't know that she's always aware of the fact that she's not behaving like a normal parent - like the nuzzling/cuddling they do, but she doesn't have to be cognizant of it to make it emotionally manipulative and crappy parenting.
