Yes, if you take the time to leave a lengthy, well-thought out review, then the author should at the very least reply with a thank you. I agree. It's just rude not to.

And don't let other people think that there's something wrong with you OP, because there's plenty of other fic authors out there who do appreciate long reviews.

I also agree that authors who are holding out on chapters of a fic for more reviews and attention are really shitty.
