I just really want a story(in-universe, none of this All The Myriad Ways bullcrap) where either the Joker is killed or is sentenced to death, and there's no attempt to save him or prove someone else did it or any of that malarkey.

The focus should instead be on the world reacting to the idea of The Joker being dead as a doornail. This guy's been tormenting Gotham City, and by extension the world, for ages, and suddenly POOF! He's gone. It'd be like finding out the actual Boogeyman is dead.

But perhaps most importantly, the main driving question should be "Why the hell wasn't he dead before now?" In a world of superbeings ranging from aliens to gods, why has this guy been allowed to run free for so long?

And while I'm fantasizing, can I have a trillion dollars and a time machine? I hear Pompeii is lovely this time of year!

I would love to read that story.

Did the Joker stay dead at the end? No? Then not quite.
