1) Sorry, OP, but it almost feels like you listened to the first five minutes or so (aww, Cecil gushing over Khoshekh, oooh, THAT'S why he hates Steve, heee, Cecil is such a good uncle!) and then... totally missed Lauren threatening both Janice and Tamika, who are both LITTLE GIRLS, and Cecil urging rebellion as openly as he can. Cookies was plenty dark, the fact that it DID start out light and sweet is almost what makes it more creepy.

2) Well, we got a new episode like two days ago. Are kidnappings, a dark planet lit by no sun, and stabbings dark enough for you?

(Actually, IS this the second time someone has unambiguously died after from the Apache Tracker (and possibly assorted interns) in the show?)

ISTR comments about bodies in the street on Valentine's day, and I think the shape in Grove Park vaporized a couple non-interns.

I don't know why I can't get into WTNV. On paper it looks like everything I could want in a story (I love random wacky silliness, I love dark stuff, mysterious stuff, supernatural, and toss in a bit of a same-sex relationship and I'm over the moon), but listening to it always puts me to sleep. I haven't ever gotten more than a few eps into the series.

Damn, that sucks :( Is it Cecil's voice? A lot of fans say that his voice is very, very soothing and a lot of people listen to it specifically to sleep more easily - maybe if you read it along with transcripts (there's a full set on the Tumblr account cecilspeaks), it might help? Or doing some busywork while you're listening? (For instance, I like colouring art on Photoshop - it's something to keep myself busy but doesn't need too much concentration.)

Nope, I like his voice just fine. I tried the busywork idea as well (listening at work), but that didn't help.

What I suspect is that while I love silly humor, this falls more on the silly-stupid end of the scale than silly-funny for me. Which drives me crazy because I want to like it! Plus it's very rare to meet someone who doesn't like it, so it's got to be an issue on my end.

I keep trying now and again -- next time I might start in the middle instead of early on, maybe that will work for me better.
