AYRT. I definitely agree about LOTR and that's one of the books I was thinking of when I asked the question. I thought the movie adaptations did an excellent job of really taking out what was interesting about that world and hitting on what we really needed to see. The LOTR movies kind of prove that condensing a story isn't always a bad thing.
