G'Kar is the awesome. Actually, it's really hard to go wrong even if you narrowly focus your affection for one of the B5 characters :)

I would argue for a caveat: Franklin.

It seems like they could never figure out what to do with him, and as a result he tends to come across as kind of ridiculous.

Very true. I liked the idea of the stim storyline because its sort of like people who need pain killers and get addicted to them, but they never really followed through enough with it.

Yeeeah. IIRC, they only really covered his abuse of stims in one episode, and it felt like it came out of nowhere. If they had developed his addiction over the course of, say, half a season, it could have been really powerful.

Maybe you remember this better than I do, but did he go on walkabout right after the stim issue, or was that a completely separate impulse?

Actually, they showed him using stims in several episodes. There were several episodes where he'd be really low energy and then all of a sudden energized. Like the one where he is drinking with Garibaldi completely exhausted and gets called into an extra shift and then goes to the bathroom and comes back and dances with a random girl.

The stim abuse was why he did it. He looked at his stim levels and realized he'd been abusing and took time off.

Ah, all right. It's been a long time, and it's kind of reassuring to read that I've remembered it wrong. That said, I still feel it could have been better handled, and I think the fact that I did remember it wrong is indicative of that.

In general, the lesson I'm taking from this is that...I need to re-watch B5. Oh no, the hardship! :D

I've rewatched it recently. Actually, I only got into it about 2 years ago and have already watched it through 4 times. Its just that good.

But I agree. They could have handled it better. I felt the same way about both telepaths. It made sense that Talia's actress wanted to leave, and even if I liked her character a bit better than Lyta's, both were severely underused. There was the core 5 (Sheridan/Sinclair, Delenn, G'Kar, Londo, Garibaldi), and everyone else was really secondary (although actually even Vir was given more to do than Lyta, Talia, or Franklin).

I can't really comment on Lyta (I don't feel we got to know her well enough), but I was actually really satisfied with Talia's arc. The shipper in me would've liked to see more Ivanova/Talia, though. I'm just glad that Ivanova admitted to being in love with her.

That said, I was always fascinated with Psi Corps in general, and we never got as much from them as I would have liked.
