Once Upon a Time fandom, pre and post Hook. Pretty sure he's not the cause, certainly not the sole cause, of the fandom's decline, but he's up there. The whole show "changed direction so fast you could hear the squeal of the brakes," to quote one of my favorite fanauthors, when the writers got the rights to Neverland and they abandoned their planned plot for most of season 2. The problem is, once they dropped the plot for new shiny things, they never really picked it back up. Not that the writing was ever super amazing, but some of it was good and most of it was serviceable. Now the show's straining to hold together with all the hasty retconning going on. I liked the show because it was basically Disney fanfic. Except now it's bad, depressing Disney fanfic, instead of enjoyable cheese.
