This is perhaps the most confusing secret I have ever seen.

DDG gives me nothing for "tar season"

The only logic I can make of this is: Cabbage is a hardy crop that grows in adverse climates/conditions, normally it is a staple crop in areas with harsh winters (at least IME). "Tar season" and implying the roads are impassable due to asphalt flows (not what usually happens) suggests very warm climate, and/or OP's town is near/on a volcano LOL.

Alternately very harsh winters and summers hot enough to literally melt the pavement so the roads are impassable seem...incompatible. (I say this, even after having been born and lived a significant chunk of my life in Ontario, Canada.)

All I can think is OP lives in a very isolated/unique area of the world they wanted to see if anyone here could guess the location of. My money's either on an island, or some very remote small town, possibly close to an active volcano, with harsh winters, where cabbage is a staple crop. Iceland? Norway? Finland? Greenland? Not sure if any of those places have hellishly hot summers tho. Which is why I'm betting on the volcano.

There are a number of things this secret makes me want to say:

1) Whut? I think I almost get it, and then, no, whut?
2) I was going to say that I don't think attempting to bribe Thor with cabbage to stay in town for three months while you're all trapped there would work, but actually I'm not sure. He probably wouldn't stay for the cabbages, but he actually might stay to keep people company while they're trapped. And/or, you know, try to untrap them.
3) Rereading that last sentence, and having recently read a couple of books about serial killer cults and possessed towns (thank you, Lovecraft & John Connelly), now I'm slightly creeped out by the image of someone offering cabbages to outsiders to keep them in town long enough for the tar to cut them off and trap them. Mind you, this is again not a strategy I can see working on Thor.
4) You did mean Thor, right, and not Chris Hemsworth? Because if you meant the latter then the previous two points have suddenly become much more creepy.
5) Seriously, now I have images of Brigadoon-like towns that are periodically cut off from the world by liquid sentient tar and who lure outsiders in just before the cutting-off period and obsessively feed them cabbage for the months until the tar retreats for obscure and possibly cult-related reasons.
6) What? Tar-trapped towns, cabbages and Thor? This secret is in English, right? What's going on here???
