Steve and Crossbones.
I'm fine with this, especially how Crossbones was quite cool at the start.

Before this movie came out I didn't really have a fandom bicycle, but now Steve has firmly taken that position.... still don't ship his most popular pairing though :/

I just watched that two days ago and haven't moved past the Steve/Bucky fics yet, but the minute I started shipping them I knew he was going to end up a bad guy. Because that's just my luck. Is there really no fic? Balls.

I'm not in the fandom, but are you telling me this doesn't actually exist? I am disappointed. :(((

Well, it doesn't exist yet (as far as I know). The film's only been out for two weeks in America and maybe a month elsewhere. There's all sorts of interesting stuff that people haven't gotten around to writing.

In my experience the fandom's OTPs happen very early on and then keep that position, because there's fanfic and fanart and new fans who arrive are more likely to start shipping the already popular pairings. Sure, some fic might crop up for smaller pairings, but I've never really seen a "late-comer" ship for a movie become one of the popular ships.

There's nothing in the secret or (especially) in not-in-the-fandom-anon's comment suggesting that they want/expect this pairing to become a fandom OTP. If either of them had suggested that, I would've been less cheerfully optimistic in my comment, but as it is, I'll stand by what I said.

(Though, actually, since you mention it, I can think of at least one huge example of a popular latecomer ship for a movie: Clint/Coulson. Do I expect Steve/Rumlow to become even a hundredth as big as Clint/Coulson? Hell, no. But otoh, I never expected Clint/Coulson to become anywhere near as big as it has, either.)

I have already started shipping him with Bucky really hard (I need to find fic where he gets out of the hospital and tries to get a hold on Bucky to get revenge, but so far no luck!)... I don't ship him with Steve but I can definitely see what's the appeal!

Right? That seems like such an obvious premise for fic. I hope it pops up later.

(Not that I don't see why people would go for Cap/Crossbones, but mostly I just ship Steve/Bucky. Maybe a little bit Bucky/misery closely followed by Bucky/happiness. My Bucky feelings are complicated.)

Why not more Steve/Bucky/misery while we are at it? I feel like my feelings are mostly made of this lately. And with a side of Steve/Bucky/happiness for a kinkier threesome.

That fic IMO is a must-write. :D And of course also Steve/Rumlow makes a lot of sense, but since Steve is not my fandom bicycle I can't be betting too much on it. :D

As WEIRD as that sounds coming from me, from those bits I saw of Cap 1 I did not get strong slash vibes as on this one (I think maybe the first time around I did not see the part after Bucky's capture, so I missed the best parts... idiot = me)... Because in here it looks like this is the new Titanic!AU... I would find it impossible not to ship them at least on a platonic level. And this pairing is making me read even gen Bucky fic, a first time ever for me.

The non-con is mandatory... the whole Winter Soldier project is the most con-non setting ever (shirtless torture scene and everything, because Sebastian Stan MUST be shirtless in every thing he stars in). Sooo fucked up >>> my own kind of playground. :D:D:D

I definitely want there to be more fic about them, too. But I don't want Rumlow to hate Steve; I felt like there was respect between the two of them. I still want noncon/rape, but, you know. Not because Rumlow hates him.

I came out of that movie shipping pretty much all the things, but "Steve Rogers getting roughed up real pretty by the bastard whose ass he's about to kick" is my new favorite all-purpose kink, and I'm looking forward to whatever filthy noncon is going to get written.
