I wasn't originally going to do anything, but I altered my plans slightly to go home and be with my family on Easter. It also means I'll get to see my little sister on her prom night!

We're not doing anything special. Honestly I'm just kind of envisioning a day of sitting around, watching TV, doing my nails, and chilling with my folks.

I miss going to church on Easter, but I also don't want to be That Person who only shows up on Easter, ha. (I don't really have a church right now. Too transient a phase in my life to go looking for one right before pulling up roots.)

I'm not a church person... do people frown on it when you only drop in once in a while? Are there no kinds of churches where one might go if they were, say, travelling and only going to be in one place for a few months?

I seem to recall that one of my Catholic friends who was in Japan for only a year managed to find some place to go for service sometimes.

I meant it more like people who only go to church on Easter/Christmas. I don't think it necessarily means anything, because people experience a faith community in different ways, but I didn't used to be that open-minded and am thinking people might be judgey.

It's not a big deal because my situation isn't permanent. It's just that Easter is also a really important holiday to me and I would like to do something to observe it spiritually.

Well, at the risk of sounding intolerant myself here: screw those bastards and go find a suitable place to do your thing. If all they can do is look down on someone for doing the very thing they ostensibly want to be encouraging, then it doesn't seem to me like you really have to be all that worried about their opinions in the first place.

nah, you sound fine! I actually considered doing that if I were going to be stuck in my college town, but really, I don't have a community I'd feel comfortable going to right now, and don't really want to do the whole "be a guest at a new church" thing on Easter.
