Re: A situation and a question
(Anonymous) 2014-04-19 12:47 am (UTC)(link)I grew up with a very controlling, abusive parent, so I understand how difficult it is to explain just exactly why this thing that happened was so traumatizing. Um. I mean, outside viewpoints are good. I'm not saying that you shouldn't discuss it with others. I see a therapist regularly, and she manages to somehow take my jumbled ramblings and untwist them and speak them back to me in a way that finally makes sense. So I get that.
I think, though, that you should not concern yourself too much with people not taking you seriously when you think that you experienced something abusive. It's hard for people to understand other people's emotional experiences, even when they are good emotions. You just go with what works for you, you know?
