Foreign words can and have been adapted into English, and conjugated (and pronounced) with English rules.

I speak Japanese, and granted, "animes and mangas" sounds a little off (unless you're joking or whatever) but it's becomes totally acceptable, for example, to say ninjas.

And pronunciation? Well, how do you pronounce the word "karaoke"? I almost guarantee it's wrong, does that mean you aren't a real karaoke fan? In fact, if you, in English, pronounce "anime" the Japanese way, I think you're an annoying weeaboo.

English is my third language, and my first language's pronunciations are closer to the Japanese than English. I pronounce 'anime' the only way I know how. How *do* you pronounce 'anime' the English way?

I should think pronouncing it as feels natural to your native language is not weeaboo at all. But anime is an English loan word in Japanese - it comes from "animation". So "anime" should be pronounced like that but without the "tion".

Pronouncing it the Japanese way, when you are a native English speaker, is boggling because you're taking a word that Japan took from English and imitating the language's attempt at pronouncing it.

I know about it being a loan word, but never thought that you can/should(?) pronounce it as 'animation' without the 'tion'. Guess this just shows how rarely I venture into the Western side of the j-anime/manga fandom.
