Yeah, it is pretty damn pretentious. I played Silent Hill 3 and 4. They were just not that fun to play. And when are frustrated while playing a game you don't really enjoy the storyline as much as you could have.

I have watched a Full Play of Silent Hill 2. I LOVED it way more than any of Silent Hill games I played. It was a person who knew what they were doing and kept comments to a minimum. It was like watching a (long) movie.

There's a disconnect in watching LPs. SH2 wasn't scary when I watched an LP out of curiosity because it was someone else playing and feeling the horror. When I played (multiple times, even) it was fucking frightening because I was IMMERSED in the gameplay. I don't know. I feel you when you say this should be a perspective people understand.
