I agree with you. I prioritize the story in games, and LPs usually don't do it for me because sometimes they leave out some interactions, or go down paths that don't reveal aspects of the story that I'd like to see. I'll admit I do watch LPs for certain games, where I didn't have much interest in shelling out cash for it or tried and the gameplay didn't suit me, but there's a very different feel to playing vs watching. I would even say, as someone who spent years watching their brother play games rather than play them themselves, that watching in real time is vastly different. I feel it's more on an autonomy kind of thing. I like to be the one in control, and able to have some say in what's happening.
Obviously this doesn't hold true to everyone, but hey. Different strokes.
