Being an adult means knowing that doing ridiculous things isn't what makes you an adult.

C. S. Lewis was talking about how taste in literature shouldn't have to change with age, not about acting out like a complete tool in public.

I think that quote is saying exactly the same thing being discussed about Miley Cyrus. She is trying too hard to act "adult" with her sometimes tasteless antics, and as a result makes herself seem immature.
