You have a point there. This is why, speaking as a huge wuss, I can only ever watch LPs of scary games instead of playing them. There's a bit of a disconnect in an LP that isn't there when you play the game yourself, sometimes it's easy to overlook and sometimes I'm damn glad I can just switch tabs and turn down the volume for a little while and be past the scary bit. XD So it is different, but I don't mind the difference. It beats never experiencing the game in any way.

And some people just don't feel like the difference is significant in the first place, if they're there for something like plot or characters instead.
