Re: How do you react to mistakes in fic?
On the subject of beta'ing, I know from some of my past experiences beta'ing (and I only beta grammar and spelling) that I may change around a few words if a particular turn of phrase is something I cannot understand. If she is changing whole paragraphs o you... I don't know, she may be going outside the bounds of strictly gammar-&-spelling correction.

(Anonymous) 2014-04-20 07:13 pm (UTC)(link)When I beta, I try to keep as close to the original author's style as possible. Correcting spelling, grammar, and awkward word usage. I want my "work" be invisible, because the readers aren't there to read MY fic. They're there to read yours.
Others, well... They try and turn it into the story they would like to write, if they could. I've seen that ruin many a good writer's style.
Don't be afraid to speak up, or reject anything that you really don't like. :)
