I think it's partly that it's gone downhill, and partly that people miss the characters who aren't around anymore. Especially Prentiss cause Prentiss was great. Plus it's a formula show and those always kind of wear thin after a while.

Man, I miss Prentiss like crazy. She reminds me of a real-life friend named, coincidentally, Emily. When she died, that was one of the first times I actually cried at the show.

I don't really watch the show (though I have seen bits and pieces and think that Morgan and Garcia's relationship is adorable) but I love how Garcia stands out in this picture. She's so cute and I love her style!

I don't watch the show, but I can't help but wonder if it's the same thing that's going on in the NCIS fandom - the whole "the show's gone downhill since Ziva left" and "Ellie Bishop is ruining the show" thing. (Neither of which are opinions I subscribe to by the way.)

No - there were issues with the cast changes, but it's mostly the writing quality that has taken a massive drop.

If you compare any episode in the past two or three seasons with, say, Riding the Lightning, the difference in quality is so startling it seems like two different shows.

After Prentiss and JJ left the first time, the show never really recovered. And of course that's partly because most of the writers from the early years left too.

For me, it's the fandom that killed this show more than anything.

I wish I had never joined it.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. The cases have all become "how can we gross out the audience the most this week" instead of being intriguing like they used to be. There is no consistent follow-up on storyline because they're too focused on the gotchas of the premiere, finale, and sweeps episodes. Characters go to waste (Cruz, etc) and characters are killed off for no good reason (Strauss).

Compare the Replicator storyline to ANY of the big bads previously and it was just awful. The sad thing is that they really had any number of places that they could have gone with it and it would have been outstanding.

The writers seem to want to 1. write horror films and 2. toy with shippers. There is little substance elsewhere.

It sucks because I still adore the characters that are left, but that's more do to the actors.

I will say that the current writers do well in one area and that's writing team building scenes. I much prefer the ones over the last few seasons than the ones beforehand.

The font in this secret reminds me of the Mary Tyler Moore Show. /dates self.

I dunno, OP. It's not like it's a horrible show now, but it just isn't as good as it used to be. I'd have to agree with the previous comment about JJ and Prentiss leaving the show being the first major schism, especially when the show also lost a lot of their writers. The new ones just don't have as good of a handle on plot and characterization, and characterization in this series is HUGE. The series never fully recovered after that, and that was too hard to take for me.

I'm sorry OP, but you are very, very wrong. Objectively wrong, even. The show went from intelligently written and genuinely suspenseful in the first few seasons to unwatchable tripe in the last few.

I stopped watching when they fridged Reid's girlfriend. They might still have interesting cases, but I can't get over something like that. Other shows kill off love interests as well, but I can't forgive them for introducing her solely to kill her off in a way that would hurt Reid. :/
